Losing weight can be a bit tedious if it tries. The food can get pretty dull, pretty quickly. Fortunately, fruit is brilliant! It’s pretty cheap, it’s tasty and it comes in all different varieties. Fruit is boss! Be warned though, when it comes to weight loss, not all fruits were created equally. There are some you’ll want to avoid and some you’ll want to devour.

Avoid

Pineapples, Mangoes and Juiced ones (that come in a carton). They are absolute sugar gold mines and incredibly counterproductive to your weight loss efforts. Also, avoid pre-packagedĀ fruit salads. They’re not great and they usually taste a little bit horrible anyway.

Devour.

Red grapefruit – deliciously sour, rich in vitamin C and just a fantastic way to start your day. There is a school of thought that suggests grapefruit can act as an appetite suppressor but I’m not too sure about that.

Plums – Little, purple, pure. They are pretty amazing. Plums aid in digestion, are low calorie and can help lower cholesterol. The vitamin C in plums can boost skin health as well as your immune system.

Peaches – If they are good enough for James, they are good enough for me. And you.

Cherries – Little, red, full of antioxidants and more. Cherries are an absolute top fruit to eat. Several studies suggest they may help you lose belly fat and boost heart health. Cherries are low in calories, high in potassium and are just generally brilliant. I like cherries!

Nectarines – Nectarines are a good source of antioxidants and have various other elements that help promote a healthy life. Add them to your plums and peaches to make a pretty cosmic smoothie or shake.

Berries – Blue, red, rasp. There are many berries for you to enjoy. They are antioxidant-rich, tasty, fantastically coloured and very versatile. Many berries are high in fibre which can help you feel full longer and aids digestion.

Kiwis – The king of vitamin C! Kiwi fruits are packed with vitamins that are just great for you. I won’t go into too much detail but you need them and they are good. Trust me! They are fantastic and some studies even suggest they may be a useful aid for those who suffer from IBS.

Lemons – Yellow bitterness in every bite! Beautiful. Full of vitamin C, antioxidants, pectin fibre and potassium, the humble lemon is an absolute beast of a fruit. Enjoy it.
